This is a portrait I painted using the photograph from the cover of the book The Journey by Tony Blair. I painted this purely for a self promotional piece that would combine a portrait and a caricature.

Portrait commission - Gemma as an adult.

This is the second of three paintings of Gemma that her mother 'commissioned'. The reference photograph was excellent and was actually taken when her mum and I got married last year. I will eventually be combining the three portraits to emphasise the 'circle of life' .

My wife loves these portraits soooo much ... if only she was a paying customer.

A portrait commission - Gemma as a child.

This commission actually came from my wife and is a portrait that I painted of my step daughter Gemma. The reference photograph was very small and aged (it was taken about 18 years ago) but was quite clear and is one of my wife' favourite photographs, there was of course no fee.

Gemma - step by step process.

This was a photograph that I hadn't really seen before and I couldn't believe the changes in Gemma as she's gotten older. My wife and I were talking about this and said that she would love a painting that combined pictures of her through 3 stages of her life as a baby,as a child and as an adult. A 'Circle of Life' format - this would be the mid stage as a child.

David Tennant Portrait

Earlier this year I painted this David Tennant portrait as a practice piece to get me back into the flow after a lengthy absence. I thoroughly enjoyed doing the painting and I was quite pleased with the result. Although I have being concentrating on my caricature art on both a blog and a website on and off over the last couple of years this is an area I would like to pursue more.

I've incorporated the commissioning of portraits into my website as an alternative option to the gift caricatures, hopefully it will gain some interest.
